Specific situations call for different types of lenses

The lens is the most important part of your camera. It is the eye that sees what you capture. Your lens plays the most important role in capturing the details, color and clarity of your subject. All wedding photographers, of all levels, can improve their work by selecting the appropriate lens.

Their are two types of lenses. The prime lens has a fixed focal length and the zoom has a variable focal length.

Wide angle lenses give a wider view of the scene. These lenses are used more for landscape portraits or in small spaces (getting ready shots of the bride in her small bedroom).

Telephoto lens can be used for capturing subjects from far distances. Being able to zoom in is needed during ceremonies. Their also great for blurring out the background for portraits.

You can use a macro lens to capture the smaller details of the day. Macro lenses are often used to capture close-ups of the wedding couples rings.
